Dunnottar Castle (Disintegration)

£350.00

Dunnottar Castle is a copper plate etching with hard ground and aquatint (including sugar lift and spit bite) printed on 300gsm Hahnemüle etching paper and limited to an edition of 40 signed and numbered prints.

It is the first of a triptych of prints I produced in 2023 as part of a Micro Commission for Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums. I was thrilled to hear that an artists' proof of this piece - along with the 2 other prints - now form part of the gallery's permanent collection.

As a general theme, I wanted to explore how the disintegration of one thing can lead to something more beautiful and positive in its place and the effect this can have on our perceptions of and feelings about the past, present and future. I used very traditional printmaking methods for this first print, which represents the past in the series.

I will also be making a very small number of the triptych available as a separate, boxed edition at some point in the future, so watch this space for that!
