Commissioned by the Port of Aberdeen to mark the return of The Tall Ships Races to Aberdeen in 2025, Festival of Sail celebrates four unforgettable days when the city’s waterfront was transformed by some of the world’s most magnificent sailing ships. Following its public unveiling, the original painting is currently on display at Aberdeen Maritime Museum until December 2026 before going to its permanent home at Port of Aberdeen.
Created over many months, the painting brings together sketches and countless hours spent studying the ships, harbour and city to capture the colour, spectacle and joy of the event, along with the excitement and pride shared by the hundreds of thousands of people who came to experience it. It was painted as a lasting celebration of a remarkable occasion and Aberdeen’s enduring connection with the sea.
This museum-quality limited edition giclée print has been faithfully reproduced on Hahnemühle FineArt paper using archival pigment inks. Each print is individually signed and numbered by the artist as part of a strictly limited edition of 150.
